The mission of the North Carolina Conference of English Instructors since its beginning in 1972 has been to encourage and support effective teaching in writing, the humanities, and speech; promote and provide opportunities for professional development; and advocate and recommend policies for professional issues.
Due to the situation with the state budget and travel restrictions, CEI is planning to hold one-day regional meetings in the eastern, central, and western parts of the state in October 2009 instead of a conference. Check back for details on dates and topics
